After 24 years of military service, Shellie Willis founded Redefining You Foundation in 2016. The mission of her foundation is to assist service women, women veterans and military spouses to address their personal development needs through a 2-day Transformational Symposium.
After retirement from the U.S. Army and 24 years of service starting over seemed daunting and extremely stressful. Everyone doesn’t land their “dream career” or start their business or even decide to continue their education immediately. Over the last 6 and half years of working in workforce development with a focus on veteran’s initiatives I have found that most really don’t have a clue without being given a strong sense of direction and purpose as to what that next move should be. I also discovered that service women, like myself, didn’t realize they were a highly underrepresented demographic within a demographic.
As women, we have identified with where we served whether it be Soldier, Sailor, Airmen, Marine or Coast Guardsmen, our voice and identities were aborted by those roles. I realized immediately after retirement that women spend much of their time serving and suppressing at the same time.
I wanted to create a movement and community that will continue to educate and empower our service women TO and THROUGH transition for however long it takes by building a community of connectors ranging from life coaching, lifestyle, branding, health and wellness, financial readiness and more. Service women need to be reminded they are WOMEN and they are AMAZING long after their military service they can DEFINE themselves and be EMPOWERED to SHIFT into their next phase in LIFE.
Redefining You Foundation is a community for transitioning service women, women veterans and military spouses providing them access to local, regional and national resources. Being redefined means SHIFTING your thinking and lifestyle to the next phase in life by creating a BLUEPRINT that requires ACTIVATION and ACCOUNTABILITY!
